Telephones for the BlindTelephones for the Blind is changing.50 years ago our founders met a communication need with the current technology of the day. For more than 50 years we have provided grants towards line rental and / or the installation of BT landlines for people who are blind or visually impaired. However ways of communicating are changing all around us. Even smart phones risk becoming yesterday’s technology. So we are temporarily stopping our landline offer whilst we examine what we should be doing now. This does not change the service we are currently supplying to nearly 300 people across the country. We will examine all the new technologies and try to grasp what we should be providing over the next decade. For instance we are looking at how we can supply broadband and look at the advantages of systems like Amazon’s Alexa. We will come forward with our new offers as soon as possible. Meanwhile, if anyone has any queries please do get in touch with me.Bob Hughes
